Item Types
There are a number of different types of items to be found in Legends of M'ystifa. They range from different types of weapons, armor, relics, potions, spell books, food and other assorted items.

Some types of items cannot be used in battle and some cannot be used outside of battle.

Once a spell book is used, the spell is inscribed in the characters spell book and destroyed.

Be careful with items that may be used for a quest. If something seems fishy it's probably best to hang onto it in your party inventory or store it in the village bank.

Level Restrictions
Every weapon and piece of armor in Legends of M'ystifa has a level restriction attached. This prevents characters from using items that are far too powerful too early (thus making the game far too easy).

It is uncommon to find an item that you can't equip for this reason. The only time it could happen is a real lucky drop from a higher level monster that you 'barely' finished off.

Durability
Every weapon and piece of armor in Legends of M'ystifa has a maximum durability.

Every time a weapon strikes a creature or a creature strikes you in a certain piece of equipment, there is a chance it's remaining durability will decrease by 1.

When the remaining durability of an item reaches 0, it is destroyed. It is imperative that you keep an eye on your equipped items. You can repair items if you have at least one Paladin in your party. Alternatively, you can take the item back to a village and pay a Mystic to repair it for you.

When an equipped item reaches 10 remaining durability in battle, you'll receive a text message and an alert sound will play. It's best to stop what you are doing and go get it fixed.

Value
The value of an item is effected by a number of things. These include the material used in the item, the quality and the type of magical effects it has built in.

Buy/sell rates in towns are directly influenced by your characters Merchant skill.

Quality
The quality of an item influences the AP/DP, value and maximum durability of an item. Higher quality items are generally quite rare or dropped by higher level creatures. For example, the best sollerets you could find would be DP 522, for Lunarite Sollerets of Priceless quality. The likelihood of finding such a fantastic piece of footwear is, well, rather small.

Here is a list of the different item qualities that can be found.

Damaged
Poor
Good
Excellent
Flawless
Perfect
Incomparable
Priceless

Commonality

In Legends of M'ystifa, the treasure system is fairly random - to a point. There are literally thousands and thousands of different items to be found, of all varying combinations. These include AP/DP, Quality, Durability, Value and Magical Effects that might be present.

Some items are set up to drop from creatures at different intervals. For example, a Forest Giant may drop a valuable Forest Giant Ear (a trophy) from time to time. There are plenty of items that can only drop off of certain monsters - some at a very low rate. It's these items though that are usually very powerful and most beneficial for your party. You'll also find that Boss monsters have an array of powerful and unique items available to be won.

There are generally three commonalities for items. Potions (that cure a character when consumed) drop Common, some other items (such as the Forest Giant Ear) Uncommon, and other items (such as a Sword of Ultimate Doom - which doesn't really exist, but you get the point) quite Rare.

A common drop is quite common. An uncommon drop is likely < 5%. Rare is 1% or less.

Procs
Items with a proc built in are the most powerful items to be found in Legends of M'ystifa. A proc is a spell effect that is triggered from using the item. For example, a weapon can proc it's spell effect whenever it strikes a target. On the other hand, a piece of armor can proc it's spell effect whenever something strikes it.

Procs have a specific chance of going off when the item strikes or is striked.

An example of such an item would be a Bastard Sword of Decay. Built in to the item is a proc spell effect called Decay. Every time the Bastard Sword successfully strikes a target, there is a small chance the spell effect will fire. In this case, Decay causes the target to be poisoned for 5% of it's remaining HP each turn.

There are many proc spell effects to be discovered - many that are not castable by characters.

Global Enchantments
Items with a global enchantment effects are quite powerful, or quite damaging. A global enchantment is a permanent (at least while the item is equipped) effect always in play on your characters.

For example, let's say the party finds a relic with the global enchantment Healing Kiss built in. This enchantment causes every character in your party to cure for double the HP with every spell cast. If a Cleric casts Cure More for 250 HP, this effect will automatically make the spell cure for up to 500 HP.

Global enchantments are passive, always in play and affect all of your characters.

There are some effects that are quite negative as well. For example, a Wicked Ring may give a character +1000 to all attributes - but it's downside, a global enchantment called Terror causes your party to lose all of it's inventory on death. This bring about tough choices - is it worth the risk for the extra power the item brings your party?
