Villages
Villages in Legends of M'ystifa serve as a safe haven for your party, as well as a place to upgrade your equipment and sell your treasure. There are four full service villages across the lands, each offering armor, items, weapons and townsfolk to chat with.

Moving between locations takes 1 hour of game time. All locations are available to the party 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

There are a number of different locations in the villages to visit. Here is a list explaining the function of each.

Town Hall

The Town Hall is the center of activity in any thriving village. Each comes equipped with a Mayor, whom usually has important tasks and information for the party. You'll also encounter a variety of townsfolk, some with information that will assist you in your adventures and some with problems of their own to deal with.

Inn

The Inn should be used as a resting point for weary parties. For a nominal fee, a good nights rest is a great value. When the party stays at an Inn, 8 hours of game time pass and health and mana are restored to maximum. Be sure to speak with the Innkeeper and patrons to learn more about the latest events.

Tavern

The Tavern is a gathering point for those who enjoy kicking back and downing an ale. Your party can purchase food to take with them on the adventure at a good price. Be sure to speak with the Barkeeper and patrons to learn more about the latest events.

The village Bank is also accessed through the tavern. The bank can hold gold for your party or store items (up to 15). This is a good place to store items for later (especially when they seem like they might be needed for a quest but you aren't sure).

Item Shop

The Item Shop is a great place to buy merchandise that will assist your party during the adventure. Cure potions, ethers (to restore mana) and items related to trade skills are widely available across the land.

Weapon Shop

The Weapon Shop is a great place to buy and upgrade your parties weapons. As your party increases in experience, some merchants may be able to make more powerful weapons available for you to purchase.

Armor Shop

The Armor Shop is a great place to but and upgrade your parties armor. As your party increases in experience, some merchants may be able to make more powerful armor available for you to purchase.

Mystic

The Mystic is probably the most visited location in a village. They offer a wide variety of services at reasonable prices that no adventurer can do without. Your party can sell items, identify magical items and repair items back to working condition.

Church

The Church is able to provide a couple of important services for the party. If any of your party members are suffering from an ailment, you can make a small donation for a cure. If any of your party members were to die in battle, the priests at the Church will be able to restore their life. Be careful though - this service grows more expensive as the game progresses. Be sure to speak with all of the priests to learn more about the latest events.

Townsfolk Homes

Visiting local homes will net your party more information about the latest events. Some townsfolk may even have a problem for you to deal with if you are up for the task - and the potential reward.

The Field
The moment your party steps outside the village gates, you are in the field. The field is inhabited by a number of free-roaming creatures that will attack on a moments notice. The field is your gateway to the numerous locations all over M'ystifa.

Sometimes your party will come across a dock in the wilderness that offers transportation services to various locations. Before you can embark on a boat ride though, you may have to have permission from the local Mayor.

Dungeons

The heart of your adventure lies in the exploration or old ruins, abandoned castles, ominous towers and dank dungeons - all in hope of a good fight and plenty of treasure.

Dungeons in Legend's of M'ystifa can be multi-floor (sometimes into the double-digits) and contains hundreds and hundreds of rooms. All dungeon areas are inhabited by fearsome creatures, all vying to protect their masters - and treasure.

Moving from room to room isn't as easy as it sounds. Each area has it's own design, some making use of switches, blocked doors, boss monsters, one-way doors, portals and more. Don't fret! Legends of M'ystifa comes with an auto-map feature that tracks your movements in detail. Even when you leave the adventure to return later, your auto-maps are saved.

If you venture deep into a dungeon only to find yourself against impossible odds and are wiped out (your entire party is killed), you'll restart in the last town you visited.

Here are a few of the objects you'll encounter during your adventure.

Pool / Fountain

Fountains offer a one-time drink for the weary. Be careful though, the effects granted are permanent and not all of them are good. You could have an attribute raised by a point, perhaps even gain some free experience - or lose some!

Switch

Switched generally perform one of two tasks - open a blocked passage or activate a portal. Every switch in Legends of M'ystifa has an effect.

Stairs

Stairs allow the party to travel between dungeon floors.

Portal

Portals, if active, teleport the party to a new location in a dungeon.

Chest

The best treasure chests are often found in difficult areas of a dungeon or behind locked doors. Some treasure chests are trapped and/or locked to impede the common adventurer from looting it's wares.

Sign

Signs offer insight into the design or dangers of a dungeon. Some script is more difficult to read then others.

NPC

Occasionally the party will encounter an NPC (non-player character) in a dungeon who may need help, offer advice or even sell items.

One Way Doors

A one way door is just that - a one way door. Once the party passes through one they'll have to find an alternate route back.

Locked Doors

There are two types of locked doors in Legends of M'ystifa - those that require a special named key, or a colored key. Named keys are not usually found in the same area they are found. Colored doors often guard nice treasure chests and can only be opened by corresponding color keys. Color keys can be randomly found on the corpses of defeated creatures in battle.

Secret Doors

Secret doors do not appear on the auto-map and can only be found by feeling around the walls of a room. A character with high Perception skill may be able to detect when one is  present. You never know what you may find behind one.

Trapped Rooms

Some rooms have been booby-trapped to trigger a spell when anything enters. A character with high Disarm Trap skill may be able to save the party from suffering the spells effects.

Special Locations
There are a number of special locations throughout the lands offering unique services for the traveler. Read there information below.

Trophy Collection Facility

Some time into the adventure, you'll come across a Village with a Trophy Collection Facility. Here you'll be able to turn in trophy drops from some of the creatures you'll battle on your journey. Rewards can include gold, experience for your entire party as well as fashioned items (i.e. turn in a hide and receive a piece of armor in return, crafted from the hide).

A special character located inside the facility will also explain the use of a special magical chest found on the premises. Short on details regarding it's powers or how it came to be, he'll explain that a special key is required to open it. This special key, called a Sturdy Iron Key, can be randomly found on some of the more challenging creatures in M'ystifa.

High Stakes Casino

Ah, the fun! Initially, your party will have access to 3 casino games - Over / Under, Match Game and Slots. A fourth game becomes available as the adventure goes on.

To play at the Casino, you'll need Chips - which are thankfully sold onsite. Chips are very expensive but the rewards are fruitful. As you amass a wealth of chips, they can be spent on a variety of prizes. A number of items available as prizes here are not available anywhere else in M'ystifa and are rumored to be quite powerful.
