 LOM2 1.0.9 Almost Ready!Jared @ 3/6/2012 12:11:56 PM
Whew! The largest content update for LOM2 yet is almost ready to be released. This version adds a ton of new features and also resolves a number of known issues.

Here is a summary of the key new features:

PLAYER HOUSING

-- Save your GP and purchase your very own home in M'ystifa! Each of the villages has a new shop that sells houses and other items needed for your new home. There are numerous types of house styles available with many benefits, such as:

Extra Storage: More space to store your most valuable items.

Gardening: Plant seeds and other items and watch them grow into new items that cannot be obtained any other way.

Trophies: Hang up symbols of your adventure success and celebrate.

Tradeskills: Work you do at home enjoys an increased chance of success.

TASKMASTERS

-- Taskmasters have arrived in M'ystifa! This adds 136 new quests to the game world with new rewards and treasure to be found. Each of these NPC's have a line of tasks for the party to complete and can be found all over the game world. Can you find and complete them all?

NEW CLASSES

-- Go Rogue! This new class features new skills and abilities such as Backstab and Steal GP. Rogues get it done and strike with ferocity when they get behind an enemy in combat.

-- Dragoons! This new class features new skills and abilities such as Jump. These fierce warriors are above-average in combat.

NEW SKILLS

-- Herbology allows your party to harvest new plants found in the wilds of M'ystifa, unlocking all kinds of new items. This skill ties into the new gardening functionality.

-- Gardening allows your party to plant/feed/manage planters at your new M'ystifa home. This skill ties into the new Herbology skill. Who knows what great new items you can grow and make use of during your adventure! There are over 40 new tradeskill recipes as a result.

ARTIFACTS

-- Artifacts are the latest type of item to be found in the vast world of M'ystifa! Artifacts are extremely rare and it's impossible to not know when you have found one. They are dropped at the end of combat and you have the exact same chances to find a powerful artifact at level 1 as you do level 180. For example, one of the artifacts to be found are the Master Lockpicks - they allow the party to open any locked chest with no lockpicks or skill check. There are 30 powerful, unique artifacts to be found!

SET ITEMS

-- Set Items have been added to the game world! There are eight unique sets to start with and each has key benefits. Each set has three pieces to it and wearing two of the pieces or the whole set infers extra bonus effects.

WEAPON ABILITIES

-- Weapon abilities have been added! The more a character uses a type of weapon, the more proficient they become with it. The maximum level is 10 and as it increases you will learn all-new abilities to use in combat. For example, one of the new abilities for the Bow skill is Draining Shot: Physical attack +7% damage bonus. 10% of damage returned as HP. There are many abilities to learn! You can monitor your members skills from a new interface reached from the Character screen.

BEASTIARY

-- The Beastiary has been added to the game! This new interface, reached from the Game Score screen, displays vital information about all of the different creatures you have killed during your adventures. There are over 1150 of them to be discovered in all!

NEW ACHIEVEMENTS

-- 8 brand new achievements have been added to the game world for you to unlock.

GAMEPLAY IMPROVEMENTS

-- The hotkey system has been re-written to accomodate the addition of weapon abilities. This will allow for a more seamless user experience with new prompts and notifications to help you get the most out of your party's abilities. As a side effect though, upon upgrade, your hotkeys will be reset to a default state. You will need to re-bind your spells and other skills as desired.

-- All of the taverns across M'ystifa now sell more food at once. The cost has also been increased for balance.

-- The concept of burden (items had weight, the party had a maximum weight it could carry before penalties were applied) has been completely removed from the game. M'ystifa is the moon!

-- Durability has been removed. Items in M'ystifa no longer wear down as you use them. Party's change their equipment often enough as they out-level it. If you had the Repair Item skill you will lose it on upgrade and be refunded 4 Skill Credits.

OTHER IMPROVEMENTS

-- The entire user interface has been given a touch up or tweak...dozens of minor changes. This should help make the interfaces more predictable, easier to read and ultimately, easier to use!

-- You can now map a hotkey for any character when at least one person in your party knows/learns the following abilities: Fish, Mine, Harvest and Forage. This means Character1 can have the Foraging skill but the other characters in the party will also be able to map a hotkey to the Forage ability. When you use it that way LOM2 will still calculate the success chance with whoever has the highest skill in the party.

-- No longer do you need to have the character targetted that has the Fishing, Mining or Foraging skill to use the skills while in an outdoor area. If you start with any of these skills - or purchase them after the adventure starts - each character in your party will get the ability. For example, if Character1 has the Fishing skill and a pole/bait equipped, you can fish waters with any character targetted. LOM2 will automatically use the character who has the highest skill in the party to perform the skill check. Convenience!

In addition, there are dozens of other smaller changes included with the patch. I will post the full patch notes later today for your viewing pleasure.

The 1.0.9 patch should be uploaded and ready for your enjoyment before the end of the week.

See you in M'ystifa!

Jared.
